Let’s face it.  We have all been there at some stage in our lives, experiencing heightened states of awareness, anticipation stress and pressure.  The struggle to find time to rest and recharge is real. You feel like you are perpetually wired… and tired and it seems like you are sleepwalking your way through each day. Over time, it is though you have become robotic, automatic, aimless and you are exhausted. At the most extreme end of the spectrum, you can become burnt out, fractured or broken.

But how did it get to this point?

Looking around, alarmingly, many people are in same operating mode – deprived of rest and living life on autopilot. The crazy thing is that is commonplace to push your limits and to burn the candle at both ends.  It seems to be an accepted practice essential for success.

You know you should be getting more rest, but it is far too easy to sacrifice it in place of other priorities. You think you are getting away with it, but in reality, you are paying a very high price.

The cumulative effects of stress and pressure can impact your wellbeing and manifests in negative ways physically, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually. It can present as irritability, anger, tension, difficulty sleeping, burnout, low morale, lack of sense of self or generally feeling constantly tired. But, you push on through while you are becoming the worst version of yourself without even knowing.

You know the antidote is stress and pressure is to nourish the body and mind, to rest deeply and unwind. You know you need to allow your body’s innate intelligence to repair on a deep physical and mental level to rest, restore and renew. You know you need to give your body and mind time to resilience and enhance overall well-being enabling you to operate at optimum levels, to bounce back from challenging situations, and to thrive in life.

You have read it all before. You know you need to take time to rest…deeply and renew.

But how do you move from awareness to action? The skills of slowing down and clearing our minds are time-tested methods for lowering stress and restoring the ability to rest. But it can be difficult on your own.
